Although several recordings of the interview are made simultaneously, the master tape cannot be
rewound, therefore cannot be edited or tampered with. This tape is sealed and locked away
at the conclusion of the interview, only being released when it is to be used as evidence.
If a review or editing of the tape, or additional copies are required, these are made using
the working copy of the recording; leaving the master tape as absolute proof of how the interview
was conducted and what information was gained.
The Melview time-date generator ensures that every picture frame has its own unique
serial number, making it impossible to tamper with the original recording without
detection. Each of the original recordings (master, working, client) is also given a
signature mark so any copies can be traced to the specific original. Moreover
Melview records on tapes with their erasure tab removed, so that if tapes are being used by
prosecution or defence counsel (for case preparation) they cannot be accidentally recorded
over by a standard VCR. Our DVD Series 106 systems also add metadata to the discs and
electronic name the disc using the case number and the police officers unique identity number.
