Reliability of Operation equals Better Interviews

The Melview Computer Controller controls all commands to the Melview Unit.
No component control panels (e.g. VCR, CTV, Camera) need to be activated as the computer controller
ensures that all the relevant operations are performed, plus the controller monitors the recording
status 10 times per second to ensure that evidence is fully recorded as intended. Should there be
a fault with any of the recording hardware, software or audio levels, the interviewer is immediately
alerted by visual and audible prompts, and the interrogation interrupted until the problem is fixed.
Absolutely no technical knowledge or ability is required to use the Melview Computer Controller,
which is normally operated by the law enforcement officer most appropriate to the case. Operation
of the controller is very simple and only requires one person, and once the interview has commenced,
the interviewer can focus totally on the interrogation, comfortable in the knowledge that Melview
Computer Controller is ensuring reliable recording of the interview. This also frees up technical
staff and other officers for alternative work, as the recording of the interview does not require
them to be present.
For covert interviews the Melview unit (without the camera) and monitor can be placed in a different
location to where the interrogation is taking place. This also allows for interview techniques to be
demonstrated for training purposes, without trainees having to be present at the actual interview,
and also ensures that urgent information or leads can be acted upon immediately without the interview
having to be interrupted or prematurely ended.
